How To Disable ClearType Screen Font Smoothing in Vista ClearType Screen Font Smoothing is a feature that you either love or hate!
Some think the feature is great, some think it makes the text hard to read.
If you don’t like it then try this:
Open Regedit by clicking on the Start ‘Orb’ (thats its new name!) and typing regedit then press return.
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ Control Panel/ Desktop
Highlight the Desktop Key then in the left hand pane scroll down to Set FontSmoothingType double click it and set the value to 1
Then double click FontSmoothing and set that value to 1.
Reboot for the changes to take place. As always, be careful when editing your registry and back it before hand. Deleting or editing the key could disable your system.
