XP problems....

Today I went to upgrade from XP Home to XP Pro. The install worked great but when it went to load up to the final stage of the install it died.

Error message before welcome screen said something about there not being enough virtual memory to continue, and then it reboots.

What is causing that?? Anyone ever had that problem?

This might not be of much help, but I've always found the best way to get a stable windows OS is to a fresh clean install with each new version.

You can use the upgrade CD, but when it asks for the location of the previous version, put the original CD in the CDROM and it will be happy with that. You can then swap back to the upgrade CD and the install will continue.

i did get it fixed....

talked to a senior tech at sony.....

Recovery CDs are not included with new computers anymore. There is a hidden partition that has this information. This is what was messing up the upgrade.

Solution:
1.) Blow out hidden partition
2.) Format Drive
3.) Do a recovery of C: ONLY (if you have the disks - which I ordered)
4.) Then upgrade
