when i try download a media file such as a free music download, i right click the item as advised however the "save target as" option is greyed out and the computer opens my media player instead which then fails to stream the file. it never used to be like this. how can i get the option ungreyed?

Are you sure you are allowed to download and save what ever it is? A lot of things on the net let you listen but not download and keep. What/ where are you trying to download?

The option to Save Target As is greyed out and not available if you have the Content Advisor enabled in Internet Explorer. Normally, if you right click on a link you can choose to Save or Print the file. But with the Content Advisor turned on, these options are not available to you because it would bypass the Content Advisor.

To turn the Content Adviser off Go to Tools / Internet Options / Content / Content Adviser and disable this option.
