Please Help!!:| System Halt??

Hi wondering if anyone can help me

I just turned my PC on and i am getting a blue screen with the following :-

While initializing device PERF

windows protection error, you need to restart your computer

Sytem Halted



Now there was nothing wrong with my PC when i used it last night, shut it down no problem, didnt make no changed to the system or anything

It is WINDOWS MILLENIUM

I have no clue what to do, i pressed F2 to do a 'boot' but it said 'operting system not found'


PLEASE can someone help me?

Do you know how to attempt to boot into safe mode? If so, I would try that and see what the results are.

Restoring the registry should fix it.

With your computer turned off put your bootdisk in the A drive, if you have one, power up and choose start with cd-rom support.
When you get to the 'A' prompt, type scanreg /restore and press enter. (make sure there is a space between scanreg and /).
Now choose a date to restore back to before the problem occured.
Restart your computer.

If you dont have a bootdisk, you can download one here.
Make sure you have a formatted floppy in the A drive and click on the file after its downloaded.
