Networking problems

Hi, I have been using my network (fully functional) for about a year now. however, today when i returned home, the LAN symbol in my network connections had a padlock picture in between the network wires and the status symbol from the taskbar has dissappeared, needless to say, i cannot connect to the internet anymore. however the wireless connection is still fully working, so i can only assume it is a problem with the computer. does anyone have any idea how i could possibly fix this please. thankyou very much for your time.

Have you tried to restart the computer? Also, did you right click on the connection in network connections and make sure it is not disabled?

Check and check, unfortunately, it's still no good. It turns out my dad was fiddling with "things" when it happened, although he swears he didn't. -_-"
Any other ideas?
