Errors????

I have a p3 750 with win98se, i recieve a blue screen with error"0028:007700076 in VXD" everytime i try to run a program or make computer exe. anything. My window help files are now gone, under drivers it tells me that they are running in dos mode. I have checked for that particular update at microsoft, and downloaded the fix, still nothing. I have Mcafee anti virous, spybot, ad-ware and i cant scan for viruses now, not even in safe mode, i can't reinstall it if i uninstall it in safe mode. I cant even get to My Computer in normal mode without the freezup. I have just reinstalled win98 ontop of the old one and it worked for 5min before the error came up again. I am thinking of formatting and clean install, but I have so much that i don't want to lose, and i can't save anything to CDs because as soon as i double click anything it freezes. I can acess the internet only through checking my e-mails which pops up when it starts up, if i try to acess anything with the adress bar, it freezes up again. Can anyone help me Please? I reinstalled windows with the start/run/e:/setup.

I tried to download a different fix on the net, and as soon as i told it to "open" as soon as it was done downloading, again the blue error screen. Any other suggestions??

I went into safe mode and uninstalled everything within the last few days. Deleted VXD from registry and stopped a whole bunch of programs from loading in the start/msconfig/autoexe and so forth. Now its working again. Thanks for the response Daninku.
