Was the PC turn on when he switched monitors?
Do any lights come on (power or hard drive) when you try to start it?

If you are getting a prompt that says CMOS Battery, it needs to be changed. That would be my first job if I were you.

TMM

You need to set the bios to boot from the floppy in the bios.
More importantly you need to Save the settings when exiting the bios.

When you get the A: prompt type format c:

Is this a 98SE disk we talk of as you may not need to boot from the floppy?

Depending on the make of the bios it may be under Advanced settings or just Boot Sequences etc.
I will try to find a picture to illustrate, hold on.

Have a look at this mate.

I say "Depending" on the make of the bios mate.

The above is a shot of an Award bios obviously.
Are you saying yours is Award too but shown differently?

To see yours just enter the bios on the initial POST screen or run this from SIW.
This is a system information tool for windows that will tell you all kinds of information about your setup.

To start the pc just boot from the floppy after setting the the first boot option in the bios to Floppy disk.
Reading back through your posts it seems you need a new motherboard battery which is a CR2032 also.

Get a new battery from Tesco they about the size of a 10p piece.
For the boot disk go to Bootdisk.Com and choose the 98SE disk with ramdrive.

You do have the 98 SE cd disk yes?
