Question acpi.sys file

I was attempting to upgrade from ME to XP and kept getting the message that acpi.sys file is corrupted do you want to restart your computer. I had to restart in safe mode for it to boot up. I then searched for the file and could not find it. It was gone. I no longer have access to the modem or cd/dvd drive. In doing a search in the registry I found it in there. Any ideas as to what I can do? I can't very well copy it to the pc without access to the cd drive. I have been thinking and thinking and am burned out - any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check that your BIOS and Hardware is XP compatable, you may need to download a bios upgrade.

I would just like to get it back to Windows ME at this point and recognizing my drives. Or is it too late to "go back"? Thanks.
