Exclamation Audio Driver

Hey, i recently formatted my pc and all was going well until i reinstalled everything back that i needed but when it came to sound, i realised that i needed to install an audio driver. However, the problem arose when i found out that i did not know the make of my driver or any details about it ..several people have referred to opening my tower and manually checking the manufacturer but i was wondering if there was a simpler way to detect what driver i needed and the link to download it. I've already tried driverguide but in vain so has anyone got any other ideas?

Well, you are not going to find a direct link to download the driver, at least from Windows. But, you can right-click on My Computer, Properties, go to Hardware tab, then Device Manager and a new window pops up. You can see a list with all your hardware info you need. Scroll down until you find audio, video... click on the '+' on its side and check there for the name of your audio card. If you want maybe to find more try right-click on it and select Properties.

Hope this is not confusing When you're ready post its name here and we will search for your driver, hopefully. Goodluck.

Regards

EDIT: Not sure if Windows 98 has the same procedure as XP, but it should be similar. Post again if you encounter problems.

ok well i dont have a heading named audio, video suprisingly, all it says is the normal ones like disk drives & display adapters and it also says '? Other Devices' - '? PCI Card' & '? PCI Multimedia Audio Device' and for both of them it says the drivers are not installed...make any sense?

Did you build this computer? Do you have the CD that came with this mother board? That would have the built in audio drivers.

If not, you should be able to search for Ensoniq ES1371 drivers for your os and install it.

If you know the model of your motherboard, it is from MSI. You can download the audio drivers from their site at http://www.msi.com.tw/program/produc.../mbd_index.php
