Unhappy Is It Dead??

Hi I'm Having huge problems with my PC..
About 7 days ago it wouldnt start windows...i just got a flashing cursor in the top left hand screen so i went in bios and set all the defaults and it was ok but its happened again......
I dont know where to start and would appreciate some advice and an answer to my question....Is it dead??...lol

Try starting it in Safe Mode and select the Last Known Working Configuration, let us know how you get on.
If that doesnt work, listen to see if the PC beeps when it attempts to start, if it does count the frequency of the beeps, e.g. 3 short 3 long, that sort of thing then post the results here.
Another thing, is the black screen before or after the windows logo?
