Also, when in the CTRL + ALT + DEL Task Manager screen, processes tab. Sort the CPU column by clicking on the CPU text. Click twice so that the highest percentage process is at the top. Watch this for a couple refreshes and see what is using the most CPU percentage.

Download and run Microsoft AntiSpyware, it digs deeper than Spybot and AdAware. Then as Daniku and Rob says, A copy of your running processes will make it easier to determine the problem.

Ok, I assume you dont have a screen capture program so click on this link to another post and download Screen Capture 32. You can capture the entire screen by pressing the prt scr button butthen you have to crop the image and resize it.
Once installed and set as you want it. Press the Ctrl, Alt and Del buttons to fetch up the task manager, click on the processor tab. To activate PrintScreen just press the prt scr button then use the right mouse button to draw round the task manager box. Press the left mouse button to save the image. If need be, then scroll the running processes list down so we can see the rest and repeat as above.
You can resize the processes window so we can see all of them at once but I think the image will be too big.
To attach it to a post, scroll down to where it says Manage Attachments and press the button. Now navigate to where you stored the images and and attach then one at a time.
The screenshots should give you some idea how to upload your images.

Just checked and I cannot get all of the running processes on my screen, so I would assume neither can you.
Here is how I captured my running processes, as I said earlier, do it in two shots and it should fit ok.

You should see a little icon in your task bar at the bottom of the screen, click on it to open the properties menu of PrintScreen. On the General tab, check the Prompt User for Settings box. Under Print Options, uncheck the Enable Printing box. Now under Save Options, select the folder you want to save the images to, you can also select [Prompt User for Filename] that way you can call the images want you want rather than have a generated filename.

The screenshots should give you an example of what I mean.
Have run Microsoft AntiSpyware, and if so, did it find anything?

Shut down these two processes:
Avgcc.exe
AVG 7.0 AntiVirus Control Center. You either have the Control Center currently open, or it is running in your System Tray (the pretty 4-colour icon – Black, Yellow, Green, Red). When running in the System Tray, the icon enables you to open the AVG 7.0 Control Center from the System Tray. From the Control Center you can then fully customize AVG or start the AVG virus scanner itself. This causes significant problems : from “Not responding” errors to excessive consumption of memory, extreme slowness of the PC, shutdown problems, inability to go on Standby, and even full computer freezes

HPOEVM08.exe
Background HP Image Editor task installed by the drivers for the HP OfficeJet K60 & G85 (hpoevm07) and HP PSC 2100 & 2200 (hpoevm08) series of multifunction printers.
Almost all Windows 2000/XP users who install an HP PSC 2100 or 2200 series printer immediately complain of their PCs having become extremely slow and of "HPOEVM07.exe is not responding" or "HPOEVM08.exe is not responding" errors on shutdown. HP have issued a fix for it for HPOEVM08 which, strangely enough, is actually on the CD that your printer comes with, but it does not get installed automatically which is plain silly. To install the fix navigate to the Util\CCC\ImageEditor folder on the software CD and copy the file HPQVWR08.EXE from that CD folder to the following folder on your C: drive : "C: \ Program Files \ Hewlett-Packard \ Digital Imaging \ Bin". Then reboot.

To disable them go to Control Panel \ Administrative Tools \ Services then double click on the service you want to disable and change the Start Method to manual.

To install M$ AntiSpyware closedown all your background programs - right click on the icons in your taskbar at the bottom of the screen including your antivirus program, then try to install M$ Antispyware.
Once you have installed (assuming you can) the antispy program, reboot your pc.
