Logon Message

Dear Helpers,

I went into windows update, I have service pack2 windows XP, I tried to download updates, it says unsuccessfull installation.

Then I went into www.microsoft.com and got the updates manually and downloaded the updates.

After this, I restarted my pc and when I got the Logon Message, I wrote my password then pressed OK, then I got the following message:

"The program issued a command but the command length is incorrect"

I am not being able to logon!!!

I tried to logon through Safe mode, same Error Message I am getting.

Please help the poor Taleb!

Thanks

Taleb

Try booting into Safe Mode and selecting 'The Last Known Good Configuration' option.

If that does not work (9 out of 10 times it does) then you will have to read and follow the instructions on this KB Article

With SP2 you have the option to allow it to download critical updates, just make sure it is turned on. Dont download any updates yourself, allow the update center to determine which ones you need yourself and all will be well. One of the udates you tried to install was a bad download, I cannot remember the update number. Check that your SP2 security is showing the autoupdater as being on. See the screenshot (På means ON in Swedish )

Which of the two options I gave you worked? the 'Last Known Configuration' or the 'Replacement'?
