Unhappy de coding and en coding

HELP,
was using windows xp until recently , when computer crashed, i put in disc that came with my computer, and formatted my hard drive , before i formatted i could right click and on the drop down screen i had the option to en code and de code my pictures but now i dont have that option,i have a lot of work photos on a disc that i cant de code please can any one assist me

Do you know what you were encoding them as? You must have installed a software application, may have came with a digital camera or some other video type software, that gave you this option.
