Java 2 runtime

I was going through my add / remove programs and noticed I have 2 instances of Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03 and another ending in _05. What are they, and do I need both of them. One is 135 MB and the other is 108MB.

Java Runtime will run any program written in Java, it is required for some websites. You can un-install the earlier version (v1.4.2_03) and leave the other one.

I have Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.1_02, which is 1.72MB; and Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.1_05, which is 130.00MB. Can I remove that _02? Or the _05 needs it?
