Changing default settings

Can I make default when opening windows, so they open maximized?? For example when opening windows update, the window will be restored - and I want it to open by default maximized.

Open Internet Explorer
Shift + click a link to force it to open in a separate window
Alt + Tab to return to the first window
Close it, leaving only the small window open
Drag the window edges to adjust the size
Now press the Ctrl button, and close this second window, holding the Ctrl button and using 'close' in the File menu (important!).

Do not use the maximize button or it wont work.

Now windows should remember your settings.
