can't send email w/ outlook

PC/3.0G/XP-SP3/MS OFFICE 2007/Outlook/ISP=comcast/security= mccafee-currently disabled/mail.comcast.net/outgoing tab=requires authentication-same as incoming/connection=lan/pop3 110smtp25/not encrypted/time out 2min/. last known updates were ms sp3
I have problem where I cannot send email via outlook. I am still able to send if logged in to comcast mail. error code is 0X80042109. Most sites state this is a problem not using your ISP. my ISP is comcast and that is what I am using. Please help. Thanks.

Sorry, here is exact error message recived from outlok while attempting to send email:
Task ' Comcast Mail - Sending' reported error (0x80042109). Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing SMTP email server. If you continue to receive this message, contact you administrator or ISP.

BTW. I have rebooted both the computer and the modem. Linksys wireless router.

Have you followed these instructions?
It would seem there is quite a few with the same problem, I dont know Comcast so I cant commment.

Thanks for the reply. I found the solution (for me it was shifting to port 587) by reading numerous posts and trying different things. Your solution would have taken me there directly. Thanks again, mark
