First and foremost, consider more RAM. These days 512MB just isnt enough.

What are you using to cleanup your hard drive? There are many optimizers and reg cleaners that work good but there are some that just mess things up.
Is there a specific area that is not running well or is it general throughout your machine?

Hi Steve,

If it was me, I would add another 512Mb of RAM which depending on where you live, isnt so expensive. That will make a huge difference!

Have you defragged your machine recently or at all? if not that will help.
The Reg Cleaner you are using wont speed up your machine, it will just correct problems.

Download CCleaner from the link under my name and run that, it will get rid of all the junk files on your machine.

Download TuneUp Utilities from the link under my name (its a 30 day trial) and run that, it will help to optimize your machine.

Once you have defragged your machine and downloaded and ran the two programs I mentioned get back to me and let me know if you see a difference in performance. If you need help with them programs just ask.
Dont install extra RAM right now until we tune your machine a little, once thats done, if funds permit then add a some RAM and your machine should fly!

I would like to add "scandisk" your pc so it will check/fix if there are corrupted or bad sector in you HD. After that defrag your system in safemode.

after all that you may now consider making a full scan of your PC. Antivirus and malware scan.
