i would have to assume it has to do with the windows product key.is it giving you an option to re-enter it?

Ok....My computer was mail order and came with Microsoft Windows XP home edition. During start up it reaches blue welcome screen then a windows error box appears saying 'a problem is preventing windows from accurately checking the licence for this computer' error code:0x80070005. clicking on 'ok' takes me to the log on screen and then any attempt to log on rusults in the re-appearance of the message. This happened suddenly after computer being fine for over whole year. My computer installs updates automatically on shutting down.

Try to reset the default security provider in Windows XP.
To do this you must delete the relevant registry keys in the Windows registry.
Start the computer.
Press the F8 key during startup to start the computer in Safe mode.
Start the Registry Editor, click 'Start' then 'Run' and type Regedt32.exe and press enter.
Navigate to and delete the following registry keys in the Windows registry:

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Cryptograph y\Providers
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers

Close the Registry Editor.
Restart the computer.
Post back with the results.
