Question Password Problemz

Here's a toughie...

I used Windows XP's compression function so that I can put a password on some file folders. It works well...a bit too well.

I don't know how this happened, I use the same password for almost everything so it's impossible for me to forget, but the password I chose is not working anymore and I can't access the files. I believe I may be able to delete the files, but I'd hate to have to do that.

According to Windows' website, there's nothing that can be done about this.
Does anyone know some way to by-pass the password or remove it without actually knowing the password?

I really appreciate any help I can get with this. Thanks.

I dont know any solutions around it, there are many password breaker programs on the net but they are not cheap. Maybe other members have a solution.

According to Alan, there;s some programs on the net, which I didn;t know they exist. But, do a search maybe you can find a trial version of one or something. Not sure, just an opinion.

Question Password Problem with WXP-HE

WXP-HE asked me if I wanted it to remember my password. I said, "sure". Now when I try to sign in to other locations using different passwords, WXP-HE puts up a box telling me that not the password it knows and do I want it to remember this particular one. I want to go into WXP-HE and wipe my password out of its memory. How do I do that, please?

Try this John,
Launch Internet Explorer.
Click on Tools/Internet Options/Content.
Under Personal information, click on AutoComplete.
To stop password saving, uncheck 'User names and passwords on forms'.
To clear all existing saved usernames and passwords, click on 'Clear Passwords', then click OK in the warning dialog box.

Thanks for the links. I tried the first one and I realized that I know very little of what I'm dealing with. The program for zip files didn't work at all, but it was trying to decode the folder that contains the files. I have no problem with opening the folder, it's the files within that are restricted. So naturally, there was nothing to decrypt. It wouldn't let me use it on the files themselves though.

I tried the other program from that same link that's supposed to find encrypted files within your pc and it didn't find any of the ones I needed it to get. It also didn't recognize the files as encrypted when I chose them directly so it did nothing...

I'm trying Zip Key now which I think is from the second link (Passware). But like I said, I have no idea what I'm dealing with so I'm not sure what the right program is. Zip Key's been running for a whole day already and it doesn't seem to be anywhere near stopping...

Can you advise on what decryptor may work for this Windows integrated-zip password? (ugh, I don't even know what to call it).

Thanks again, even if you can't help me. I appreciate what you've done so far.
