Hiding but not Lost

I run Pent4,lots of Ram and Memory. I seem to have lost my ability to find any info from when I press "my computor icon". The flash light comes on and looks to know avail. It seems I have lost the my way { path} to the riches I want. Any suggestions? Alan, thanks for all the links and tips. I always read your posts. PS: everything else works fine Thanks

First and foremost, you dont say what Antivirus/antispyware software you have, if any. I would scan for spyware with either Microsoft AntiSpyware or SpySweeper then when you know that your system is clean, if the 'My Computer' icon still does not show your drives we can go a step further.
Do you know when or what you installed that caused it not to function?

Thanks for the kind words, Rob, Daniku and myself work hard at trying to make this website interesting. We are happy for any input other members have.

Not a virus

I have them all and use them regularly. I think when I used a program called registry first aid ,it removes a needed path? I feel comfortable that it is not a virus, worm trojan.. thanks for replying

OK, two things to try
First, start your machine in safe mode then select 'The Last Known Working Configuration' reboot and check to see if it is working.
If that dos'nt work then click on Start / Run and type sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and the forward slash) you may need your XP installation disc, it will ask for it if it needs it.

Let us know how you get on.

Found the path

I do not know why it worked but it did, when I upgraded my Quicktime program and Windows Media, everything came back? Glad it did, but I could not tell you why. Thanks for your help
