Question Please Help!!!!

i have an IBM model: 2137-E24 i have os XP professional it has 2.1GB hard drive and 96 memory. i used one of them system cleaners and it seem i've really messed up my system. my CD-ROM does'nt work at all you can't even open the door. i get error 39 in the devices manager. i also get an error 22 NtApm microsoft NT Apm/Legacy Interface Node which i was told i needed to click enable device, but don't know how it get to it. and to make things worse i deleted the restore dates when i cleaned the disk for more space. how can you recover them? if you even can. i've tried all kinds of recovery software and diagnosis tools, but i'm affraid i'll make things worse then they already are, if thats possible!!!! can anyone PLEASE give me some advise???? thank you for your time, lisah

It sounds like you have corrupted the drivers for your CD ROM, re-install them. If need be locate your CD ROM in device manager and delete it, then reboot and let windows detect a 'new' device.

Let us know the outcome so we can help you further if you need it.

Smile alan

alan thank you for your reply. i tried what you said and i must be doing somthing wrong. when it adds new hardware it goes to the same thing as it was with the error 39. but i did notics that after uninstalling the device it said: secondary IDE channel is working properly. but when it reinstalls the hardware it says its in location 1. i'm not sure if that means anything. is there anyway to recover the restore dates that we're deleted thur the disk cleanup? i'm so lost right now. i feel as if i really screwed up my system when i used the software system cleaner. my printer is'nt working either. thank you so very much for your time!!!!! i hope to hear from you again with any help to my many problems!!!! THANK YOU, lisah

Try this Lisah,

Method One
Remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} - Be extra careful when editing your registry!
Restart your computer.

Method Two
If the above method does not resolve the code 31 error message and restore access to your CD-ROMs, if you also have Media Player version 7.0 installed, you can uninstall Media player version 7.0 and download and install the latest release posted at the following Microsoft Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia

Press the Winkey and R together then type regedit and press enter. This will take you into your registry.
Alternativly click on start then run and type regedit.
