Memory problem

Hi to all,
I hope someone can help? This problem is fairly in depth and i'm a novice so please bare with me......I have windowsxp professional installed and a few weeks ago when i started up my computer the mouse wouldn't work,so thinking it had run it's life i purchased a new one,but same problem occurred again. That same day when i tried to print i received a message saying the computer couldn't communicate with the printer and that a cable must be unplugged. Then it happened again with my ISDN connection and the scanner.
I took my computer to a repair person who replaced the motherboard and connected four new usb ports.Still the problem remains with a blue screen for about 3 minutes after windows loads then a box appears asking what i want windows to do i.e.start up or shut down.Same when i turn off.Now when i finally get my system working i have to unplug my mouse and plug it in again to get it to work, same with the printer but my computer refuses to work if the scanner is plugged in.
I hope someone can help,
thankyou.

Sue, How long have you had the computer? Are you currently running anti-virus, with current definitions, and anti-spyware tools? If either or both are no, I would first go to the following url http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Housecall will allow you to remotely scan your computer for virues for free. It might take a while so plan this when you have time.

After that, download Spybot Search and Destroy. Go to this page, about the middle and download and run this. http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fil...d,22262,00.asp

Let us know your results.

I would try Rob's suggestions first, then put your Windows disc into your CD Rom drive, press the Windows key and R (at the same time) then type sfc /scannow this will check your system files.

Help us to help you!
Be specific with your problem and tell us your machines specs.
