Exclamation Can`t find new H/D?

Hi all I just installed a new H/D(seagate 40gb) and have installed it as a slave to my other drive my problem is after printing off alan`s tips and following them it still hasn`t found it on start up.I have swapped the IDE ribbon on both and it made no difference so I went into setup (f2) and tried to set slave from uninstalled to auto and restarted and still nothing not sure what to do next, is currently still working fine on primary H/D even though slave is still connected.I am running windows 98
Thanks Reggie

Hi Reggie,
Is your new hard drive Serial ATA or Parallel ATA?
Have a look at this link to Seagate, you can download the discwizard from there which will help on how you want the new drive installed.e.g. how many partitions etc.
Let me know how you get on with the discwizard and we will take it from there.
Have a look at the pictures and check your settings.

EDIT: Just a thought, check that your BIOS is set to autodetect.

Regards

Thanks alan I actually did all that yesterday and my extra digging around in my system helped me realise that my BIOS was not good enough for over 38gb so a 4th removal and resetting of the HD to limit it and we were rocking.(your still a genius though)
I went to HP web site to look for a BIOS update but couldnt succseed and also cant find my BIOS on my system I tried f1 on start up and nothing all I can do is f2 to setup or tab for post screen (which didnt work) Thanks anyway Reggie

Glad its sorted Reggie, F1 usually takes you to the bios setup screen but it can be any key. You maybe able to find a bios upgrade at http://www.bios-drivers.com/ they seem to have thousands of them.
