If you can get your hands on a monitor, plug it in and then turn on your laptop. If the line is still there its proberly a graphic card or M/B issue. If the line has gone then your laptop screen needs replacing. You dont specify how old or the make and model of your machine, some laptops have had problems with screens.

Be specific with your problem and tell us your machines specs.

If the machine is so new, I would return it. Given the fact that you cannot get hold of a monitor to test it one way or the other and the fact that you should have a one year warranty at least, take it back for testing.
