parkard bell iMEDIA 2422 noise

Hello there could someone please help Ive brought a parkard bell iMEDIA 2422 recon from dixons online Ive plugged it in it works fine but theres a little red light in the middle of the power switch which keeps flashing plus it makes a crackleing noise at the same time Ive been told is the hard drive working and the light is just an indicator is this correct ? HELP thank you for reading Ian

If you got a manual with the machine, it should tell you in that.
A crackling noise - doesnt sound good!
Red flashing light for the hard drive - maybe, but every machine I have had, the hard drive light has been green or yellow.
When you say in the middle of the power button, do you mean under it? I have never seen a machine with a hard drive light on the power button. Of course, there are exceptions, and I will try to dig up the specs for your machine.

Hi there there is a manual but not a very good one doesn't tell me much, and yes the power button is a large square shape on it is the power icon and a the light thats flashing red is just underneth, but still on the power button,the red light is shapped like a coke can, the noise is when the light flashes like a crackle or shorting sound, Thank you for your reply as its driving me cuckoo

As far as I can tell, that is your hard drive light. It should only flash or stay on when your hard drive is spinning. It shouldnt be on all the time.
The crackling or shorting sound - still trying to work that out.
