Reboot problem

It's a bit late now, but my girlfriend just called me because a program (I think it was Easy CD Creator) installed by her mother keeps erroring and before she can do anything, it causes her PC to reboot on it's own. I suggested while it's rebooting that she should try to boot up in Safe Mode so she can hopefully try and uninstall the problem program. Unfortunately, I'm told Safe Mode wouldn't run at all. With a problem such as this, how can you even attempt to correct it? I have VERY limited knowledge of DOS, but as far as I know that's the only option (which she has tried). Sadly, I'm in another country at the moment so I can't really help. But should this problem happen again, does anyone have any suggestions on a suitable course of action? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Oh, and her OS is XP. But if anyone has suggestions for other OS, go ahead and post your ideas here. It may help someone else with a similar problem.

Easy Cd Dreator software has created many problems for Win2000 and XP. It used to be due to there support software (Take Two) but there has been numourous problems especially with earlier versions (pre 5,1). If you cannot boot into safe mode then I suggest that you put your XP disc into your CD drive then turn on your machine and select the repair windows option. I think this will correct the registry error. I had the same problem a year ago and using the repair option of my XP installation disc worked for me. If this works and the machine will start, then run a reg optimizer program to clear any remaining Easy CD references. If you want to use Easy CD Creator after this, make sure you download the latest upgrades, which will fix the non XP compliant problem.

EDIT
Dave, according to the Roxio site, if you unplug all external devices then power up your PC it should start. Then download the patch from Roxio. I cannot say if this information is right as I havn't tried it out.

Actually, your suggestion makes a lot of sense. Thanks Alan, you've been a great help. I've forwarded your advice to my girlfriend now. Thanks a lot.
