Exclamation Checksum error

I have a MESH 500mHz computer running windows 98.

Occasionally on 'booting up' it throws up the message 'BIOS ROM checksum error' and locks up, indicating that there is invalid media in drive A ( there's nothing in A.

As yet it boots up correctly after pressing the reset switch.

What's happening now, and what's likely to happen eventually ????

Rob will become famous soon enough
Now:

It could be either your Bios rom chip on the motherboard is faulty or could also be a component failure in your motherboard. If you know your motherboard manufacturer, I would try and find the info to flash your bios. Be careful and sure that you know how to do this or you could leave the system 100% inoperable. There should be info on how to do this at the motherboard site.

Eventually:

I would assume it may get to the point that it does not boot at all.
