Smile My Future PC

Well, if you check out the 2005 resolutions thread by Alan, one of the my wishes is to build a new PC. And I like things to be perfect from the begining, so this is gonna be hard work with a great result

I've been thinking about this for some days now, and thought I can start searching for hardware I'd like, then compare them with each other, organize them in simple word documents under differnt folders (case, motherboard, VGA card...); so I will have all the the stuff and their features.

I have started with the case yesterday. At the moment I have 3 cases in the list which I would like to choose from, and thought I would post them here for some suggestions and comments... These are:

Antec PlusView 1000AMG
Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000BWA
Aspire X-SuperAlien Aluminum

Of course, I am searching for a case which have certain features. Below are some features, which I would like to see in the case:

- Should have a window at the side.
- Shouldn't be bombastic (I don't like cases with lots of colours and graphics on them), just neat and simple cases. (no matter the size)
- Should have a control panel at the front (USB + Audio ...), if possible with a front panel which you can lock (not important though).
- Should have a good airflow (cooling) design.

I have attached the documents I mentioned above and pics of the cases too.

^ Antec PlusView 1000AMG

^ Aspire X-SuperAlien Aluminum

^ Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000BWA

Please, post your comments, suggestions, questions, if you know about other case which would be suitable please post. Also post the reason for your answer. Thanks in advance

Voted for the Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000BWA, I think it looks very classy and sleak.

Have heard good things about Antec Cases. Someone told me about some Antec 3700AMG. Was told that regarding cooling the 3700AMG is better than the 1000AMG, because the 1000AMG use 80mm fans while the 3700AMG use 120mm fans, thus slower rpm which means less noise. Found a pivture of the case, but no details and features about it.

All I know is that Windowed Side Panel is optional. But this is nto enough, so for now I am on the Antec 1000AMG and the Thermaltake Tsunami... I'm not that interested now on the Aspire X-SuperAlien Aluminum. Will see if I get some info about the 3700AMG, then will remove the Aspire X-SuperAlien from the list

EDIT: Heard also that Antec cases are not aluminium, does it make any difference? What is the advantage or disadvantage of an aluminium case?

Considering Building a 64-bit system in the Thermaltake Tsunami Case. Most probably I am going to have an Asus A8N-SLI mbo

Now of course, I have to find a job for sure

Oh ... this is one old thread lofl ... and I have to say I spent the money I had to buy other stuff rather than a new PC ... and I'm still using my old one

Yes, but I'm planning on getting this in two months time and I'm sure of it. Mine is a minimum wage, and I have 2 other hobbies which are expensive ... music and aquaria ... together with IT ... not to mention that I'll continue my studies in the future regarding IT, and I still don't have a car

Anyways, I'm getting the Thermaltake, and I'm sure of it. And now that I have replied to your post I might as well tell you what I'm getting as hardware:

Asus A8N-SLI Premium (motherboard)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (dual core CPU)
1G RAM
7800GT 256MB (Video Card)
60GB SATA HDD

stuff to buy as time goes on:

another 250GB HDD
DVD ROM
DVD Writer
Advanced Sound Card
7.1 Surround Speakers
All-in-One printer / scanner
etc...

using ond optical drives at the moment until I buy new ones. Using my current 5.1 spound system, onboard sound I already got a new 19" LCD, Logitech MX1000 mouse and I'm gettnig the Logitech UltraX keyboard in two days and I will write a full review in the hardware section on it too ... I'll be there soon lol

EDIT: haha I just noticed my last post, and from that time I found a job and it's been about 6 months now and I'm lovin it hehe ...
