I have never heard of it, it would be interesting, if anybody has tried it, to know how it works.

I would love to try it "might ask my brother if he has a HDD i can have" because i don't want to risk my Seagate, i have tried Linux Red Hat but found a lot of apps would not work with it, some day when i can afford it i will buy Vista and run as dual boot with XP

Well if you want Vista, look in the How To section on trial periods

If you know anybody with a copy of Vista then you can install it, the way to activate the trial period is to install it WITHOUT entering any serial number. Windows will automatically assign a temporary number. Before I bought it, I tried it out using my son's copy. Worked like a charm! I then bought a cheap 80gig hard drive which enabled me to buy Windows Vista OEM version, which was a hell of a lot cheaper than the upgrade version.

If you want to try a different version of Linux/Unix, give Ubuntu a try. It is a very user friendly version that I ran on my laptop for a while, but started having problems with the wireless network connection so went back to windows. I believe that have that corrected now so I might try again.

I believe they also have a version that will boot from a CD so that you can see it without having to affect your current operating system or data. It is a bit slower that way, but worth a look.
