| To be honest, I'm not a Linux pro but i've studied linux from the 'Server' side of it ...
I will respond to your question, basically Windows vs Linux. Please if I'm wrong correct me. Ther are alot of Linux bistros ... Knopix, Ubuntu etc... They vary from UI and functionality, nothing major from what I've used. People use Linux mainly on servers, I'm talking about business servers and such. Schools and colleges from what I know do not make use of Linux for their servers, and the main reason is because of a contract with Microsoft or something similar, but anyways.
Some people prefer Linux, basically because it's alot faster than Windows. Recent versions can still run on old PCs which are able to only use Windows 98 not any other recent Windows version. And since Linux can do all the stuff Windows can, it's better than Win 98 and free :P But... sometimes it's a huge headache to find specific drivers for your hardware, this is the most difficult part of it.
I've browsed using Linux too and found no problems at all. So basically you choose what OS to use from the hardware you have, from the budget, preference, and usage regarding organisations.
Business does it the other way round, they choose hardware for the OS rather than choosen the OS for their PC.
Was this of any help? hehe |
