can't connect fx5200 culprit

i have two pcs both using win xp and networked with a linksys wireless setup. never had any trouble. well i put a geforce 6600gt video card in my no. 1 pc, took the fx 5200 out of it and put it in the secondary pc. my mobo specs seemed to support the 5200. iits a pentium3 815 eea board. it has an agp slot that will handle up to 4x. well when i powered up both systems i couldn't get the second pc back on line. it wouldn't hook up. stupid me never even thought of the fx 5200 card, i tiried everything else until i finally, in desperation pulled out the 5200 and the pc hooked right up. my question after all of this is why doe that happen. how does a graghics card keep a networked pc from connecting to the host pc.. i thought the card would work fine, but live and learn

I think the FX5200 cards require an AGP of 8x. Mine is!
Check in your bios to see what it is the primary graphics device. If it is set to PCI change it to APG and save the changes. Post back if you need a more detailed explaination on how to find it in your bios setup.

Its likely that if it is set to PCI, then that is causing the conflict.

i did that. it needed to be changed in the bios from pci to agp. i thought that fixed it but no. after trying a bunch of other stuff i changed the channel on the wireles router from 6 to 11 and all is well now. thanks
