| AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core CPU The AMD dual-core notebook processors are reported to be released on May 9th, and are in line to directly compete with Intel’s dual-core mobile CPU line. As in previous processor chip battle incarnations, AMD has been known for providing comparable speed to Intel chips at a lower cost, and industry watchdogs predict that the battle for the mobile CPU market will be no different. This supposedly will force Intel to slash their Duo Core processors to compete against AMD.
What will this mean? Cheaper laptops this summer for you!
Entry-level AMD Turion X2 64 chips will start out at 1.6GHz with the top speed clocking out at 2.2GHz. In anticipation to the AMD release, Intel is said to cut prices 13-50% for their dual-core line in April. Acer, Asustek, and HP are just some manufactures that will carry the new Turion 64 X2 processors. |
