Smile Hello

Hi - here's a brief warning to let you know what you're getting youself into by letting me into your community!
Migrated from my beloved Mac to PC about 3 years ago - and found the culture change far more troublesome than i had anticipated. Guess i was a little too cocky - i thought it would be as intuitive as the Mac had been but i found it hard to shake off many of the preconceptions i'd picked up. Struggled all round with the whole 'feel' of my pc - just couldn't adjust to it. Each time i had a problem i'd seek advice and 'patch' it up but didn't understand why i'd patched it up so when a similar situation occured i was in the same boat.

Last month i decided enough was enough - time to unbury my head and get to grips with it. Felt my machine was running under the weather - couldn't say exactly what but it's like driving a car and you know it's just not running as smoothly as it should. So I decided I'd clean it all down readjust the partitioning and learn from scratch how to rebuild the file structures. It's helped a lot. I'm nowhere near fluent yet but it's given me a much better feel for the workings - i don't feel totally blind now - just a bit punch drunk.
Anyway that's where i am - a struggling novice, looking for a guru...
see you in the forums!

Welcome aboard. I am considering a similar process, just the opposite. I have used and abused PC's for 16+ years. I am almost ready to purchase a Mac, of some type, to experiment and find out what the Mac community has been crowing about after all these years.

What caused you to migrate to the Dark side?

Cool Mac 2 PC

My journey to the Dark Side was brought on by practicalities rather than desire. Mac's are great if you're a loner or live life in a Mac community - if you need to step outside of that community life gets a bit frustrating. I was maintaining a WebSite so i needed a PC to be sure that what i was seeing on my Mac was the same that PC users were seeing. The compatability issue was not nearly so critical the other way round. I still feel a close affinity with the Mac - and would jump to it's defence in a debate - i just found myself in Rome and needed to do as the Roman's.
