Hi, Pharoe.
I have tried disk cleanup. I have done a full virus check with Norton AV. I have done a scan disc and everything has come out claiming to be okay. I don't know where to look next. I have tried getting Google again after all this palaver but still get this:

Are you using OnSpeed? if you have Onspeed, disable it, if not, try this little test.
log on to Eniro - Vi vet var! and try the same search from there.
then log on to Dogpile Web Search Home Page and perform the same search and let us know the results.

Hi Alan.
I have finally discovered that the problem lies with OnSpeed, a piece of software that speeds up downloading time. I am only one of many it seems, who have all sent angry emails to the culprit. If I disable OnSpeed I can use google without any problem. OnSpeed support is closed over the May Day Holiday so I suppose they will be overwhelmed tomorrow when they get back to work

I had edited my post to ask you about OnSpeed around the time you discovered that it was the problem.
Glad you found the problem, as you say there are many many people out there complaining of the same problem.

cheers: I reckon it will soon get sorted, Alan, unless OnSpeed wants to lose lots of customers. I'm just relieved that it wasn't me who might have inadvertently made some obscure and unfathomable alterations.

Hi Alan. The problem with OnSpeed has been corrected this morning and we are all back to normal. I think perhaps someone among them might be in the midst of a having a nervous breakdown if all the complaints are anything to go by.
