Symantec just started failing

Hi all.
Today-- 7-26-05-- I was unable to send, or receive my email.
I'm using NS7.2, and Symantec's NIS 2005, and XP-Pro.
After calling my ISP, I went through their trial and error protocol for problem solving, and learned that it is the firewall, and the NAV.
This has never happened before.
I've looked on the Symantec KB to no avail.
Here's what I need:
1- Is this happening to anyone else?
2- Anyone else know of a fix for this?
My assumption at this point is that the most recent auto-update caused this failure, because it worked fine last night. This morning and even now, I must turn off my firewall to send out email, or to receive it. Either that, or do webmail.
While I don't like the idea of throwing $40.00 away, I'm about ready to.
Thanks.
