Question New web page

I am preparing to move into the future and set up a web page for my ranch. This will be another entirely new project for me, so I was hoping I could get some advice and pointers. I was told you can create a web page with power point? Or will I need to purchase a program for this? I would really like a s much information as possible before I do this! Thank you all in advance for your help!

To tell the truth I've never seen anyone creating websites using PowerPoint. If you don't have any background in web design I suggest you search the internet for some tips of how to start, and I'm sure you will learn with your own mistakes; I did it's not that difficult.

There are websites where you can build a website using finished templates, and they has a user friendly UI which guides you through several steps, which is good for beginners. However you have limited things and you can't do stuff you do when you write the code yourself. (i.e. www.freewebs.com etc...)

Personally I don't suggest those type of sites, take a look at these:

http://www.w3schools.com/
http://webdesign.about.com/

Advanced coders use only notepad to build webpages, but there are programs such as Microsoft FrontPage, Macromedia Dreamweaver etc...

What do you think?

I'm sure it will be fun, it's like learning a new language and it's like a puzzle ... matching different codes together until you get the result you want

What a lot of great information! The 3 schools site is very informative. I signed up for one of the classes there. I am sure a template would be easier and faster, but I never do anything the easy way. I thank you Daniel and Alan for making this such a great site. I wish I knew enough to help you guys out once in a while! But I am slowly learning. Thank you both again. Have a GREAT day!

Breearnold,

Creating websites can be fun. I have quite a few now. www.corvettearchive.com is one of my favorites.. I use Dreamweaver now, as well as manual code editing in notepad. Come back and show us what you have when you are complete. If you have any questions, let us know.

protoman is on a distinguished road
Never, ever, ever, ever, ever make a website with powerpoint, even microsoft word is better for it than that! You should either try and learn HTML or get a program like frontpage or dreamweaver to make things easier for you. A site made with powerpoint looks very bad, and takes ages to load!
