Recommend any good music creation software?

Hi all,

Only recently bought my PC (Compaq AMD Athlon 64, 3200+, 512MB DDR RAM, 160GB HDD) and I'm considering buying some software to create my own music (using samples on a cd or creating my own samples, etc.) and wanted to know if any of you can recommend any recent good software or know of a good website that can help me make a good choice?

Or if you've created any of your own music using a certain type of software and have it on a website so i can hear the results that would be cool too.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers!
J

Try this one, I hear that its easy to use and gives professional results.

MP3 Remix 2.0 enables anyone to create a Pro DJ Style Remix of any MP3 or CD Track. It does not require any sort of DJ experience, as it automatically detects beat and song dynamics and automates all the tasks for you. All you have to do, is select a remix theme from the sound library and apply it. If you want to customize the effects further, you can modify the settings for each theme, and tweak the effects that are used. In addition, you can change the song speed , while maintaining the original pitch, record your remixes to file and more. Very easy to use, and produces great results without any learning curve.

MP3 Remix Features...
- Beat Detection Processing
Automatically detects beats and song dynamics
-Extensive Library of Presets, Loops and Sounds

Record Remixes

Here is a link to a review I wrote on N-Track Audio. It is a full audio production application for your pc. You can record vocals or instruments and mix them like a professional.

It is not a simple app to use, but is very inexpensivie.

Well, it depends on what you want to do, really, if you want to create totally original work with electronic instruments (dance music, hip-hop, etc.) then theres fruity loops, FL Studio Homepage, wikipedia article - FL Studio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia which i can really recommend, its professional-level stuff, but astoundingly easy to use (so long as you read the help files) but it ain't cheap!

If you want to edit music you've created, or record music, theres good old audacity Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder, which is a beautifully simple freeware prgram that has all the capabilities you need.

Or for a more advanced equivalent to audacity theres Cubase Cubase 4 :: Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH which is incredibly complex, and incredibly expensive, but it really is just about the best out there, unless you're gonna shell out for ProTools (and a high-end mac to get the best out of it, heh)
