viruses

hi I have a inspiron 4100 and it has windows 2000 professional on it. I wanted to try to download a newer ie and instead got a lot of viruses. Im doing a virus scan as I type this on trendmicro then I will try another virus scan site. any help will be greatly appreciated. I will like to make my computer faster but I have a feeling that when I delete these viruses it will be faster.

thanks
Jon

Alan will become famous soon enough
First and formost, run a complete virus scan then a spyware scan. With the spyware scanners run at the very least two.
Then visit the MS site for updated I.E. for your system.
To be honest, its very hard to understand how you could get viruses from updating I.E.

Help us to help you!
Be specific with your problem and tell us your machines specs.

Very true unfortunately Pharoah "see insert picture"

There are some very nasty versions about, anybody updating IE should only download from Microsoft Download Center,
