I was just contacted this morning by a local magazine publisher wanting to offer our readers a FREE subscription to Wired Magazine. If you have never read Wired, now is the great time to start. They just need you to fill out a short form and answer a few questions and you will get your free subscription. I am sorry to say that this is US only at this time, but will see what I can do for the future. Give it a try and get WIRED!!
When I was younger, every time that I was using a computer my Mother would always say that I was wasting too much time playing games on that computer. Whether I was writing a program, upgrading it, writing a letter or email or actually playing a game, I was always “Playing a Game” to her.
Well if Mom could see me know.
Per a recent report by Medical Breakthroughs by Ivanhoe, Computer games designed to increase mental activity may improve cognition in patients with Alzheimer’s disease.
New research from Barcelona, Spain reveals Internet-accessible computer activities were even better at stimulating the mind than the traditional exercises used with dementia patients.
Researchers tested 46 patients with mild Alzheimer’s disease. All participants were taking cholinesterase inhibitors, the most common medication for treating the disease, for at least one year before the study started.
If only Mom knew that I was working to prevent Alzheimer’s and other brain disease all those years she would have been proud.
